MINEOLA, NY — A Seaford man was indicted for sharing sexually explicit images of more than a dozen underage girls on a pornographic website, the Nassau District Attorney's office said.

Patrick Carey, 20, is accused of posting and altering images of girls in high school and middle school. He also posted the victim's personal information, allegedly encouraging the website's users to harass and threaten them, Acting Nassau County DA Joyce Smith said.

Carey was indicted on Nov. 23 by a grand jury and arraigned on Thursday by a judge. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child (a D felony), possessing a sexual performance by a child (an E felony), second-degree aggravated harassment as a hate crime (an E felony) and second-degree stalking (an E felony).

Bail was set at $50,000 bond. If convicted on the top charge, Carey faces up to 14 years in prison, the DA's office said.

"This defendant allegedly manipulated the photos of more than a dozen women, taken when they were teenagers, and posted the ‘deepfake’ images online for strangers’ sexual gratification," Acting DA Smith said. "His depravity deepened when he allegedly shared the victims’ personal identifying information – including their home addresses – encouraging site visitors to harass and threaten the women with sexual violence. According to the indictment, about 11 women contacted Nassau County police detectives between Jan. 2021 and Sept. 2021 after discovering images of themselves on a pornographic site.

Many of the women indicated that images were re-posted from their own social media platforms and altered to suggest the women were engaging in sexual conduct, the DA's office said.

Separately, in Nov. 2020, another woman reported to the Nassau' Special Victims Squad that she found a sexually explicit image of herself, taken when she was underage, on the same pornographic website, the DA said in a release.

Each of the women had attended MacArthur High School in Levittown and believed that the defendant was the individual who was altering and posting their images and contact information.

After executing nearly two dozen search warrants on Carey’s cellphone, tablets, and other social media and web accounts, the investigation revealed Carey was in possession of several images of the victims and had allegedly shared them to social media and on the pornographic website, the district attorney said.
