LI Man Gets Lifesaving Kidney Donor From Neighbor
Joe Boyce's chronic kidney disease worsened this year causing him to need a live donor.
WANTAGH, NY — A Wantagh man is recovering from a kidney transplant and he has his neighbor to thank for the lifesaving donation.
Joe Boyce, 56, recently received a new kidney from Liz Haines, 46, Newsday said.
Boyce was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease eight years ago and was promptly placed on a donor list. However, the urgent need for the organ increased in March when his kidney function dropped precipitously and a live donor was sought, Newsday reported.
