Library Hosts Grandson Of Hot Dog Pioneer

SEAFORD, NY — A special historical event is coming next week at the Seaford Library.

Travel back in time to learn about the creation of one of the most "famous" brands. Bill Handwerker, grandson of the original "Nathan," will entertain the crowd about the century-old hot dog.

Handwerker will chat about his book "Nathan’s Famous: The First 100 Years of America’s Favorite Frankfurter Company."

The younger Handwerker worked at the celebrated Coney Island restaurant and at Nathan's in Oceanside, before joining the family business after college.

Handwerker will talk about his grandfather's journey from Poland to Brooklyn and how Nathan's became an international symbol for the hot dog.
