Locals React to Government Shutdown
Residents of Nassau Facebook their responses.

With the first government shutdown since 1995 underway, locals have flocked to Facebook to vent.
"Explain to me how the government shutting down can be seen as a bad thing," Michael Brindisi said on Bellmore Patch's Facebook page. "With the government shut down, they can't destroy the country anymore. I view this as a bonus for the taxpayers."
"We shouldn't be taxed for the days the government is shutdown and congress shouldn't be paid either," Robert Mando added on Wantagh-Seaford Patch's Facebook page.
Others were befuddled with how the federal government could let things get to this point.
"Why? Why? Why?" Marie Brid Adams asked on Levittown Patch's Facebook page. "They are the government...why are they special? Maybe if they did not have a paycheck, they would feel a little of the American people's pain."
"If the government is shut down and hundreds of thousands of people are out of work, congressmen should feel the same pain that commoners feel," Janine Elizabeth added on Massapequa Patch's Facebook page. "It's disgusting that they can sit on their pedestal and pretend everything is ok. Absurd...absolutely absurd."
