Man Robbed Bank A Half Mile From His Home: Nassau Police

Police say he robbed the bank last year by passing the teller a note demanding money.

Nassau County police arrested a Wantagh man and charged him with robbing a bank in Wantagh in November.

According to police, Nicholas Sarnelli, 30, of Jersualem Avenue, entered the TD Bank at 1200 Wantagh Avenue, about a half mile from his home, just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018. Police say that Sarnelli approached the teller and handed them a note demanding money. The teller passed him money, the police say, and he fled on foot.

There were three employees in the bank at the time of the robbery, police said.

Sarnelli is charged with third-degree robbery. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
