Man Struck Another Driver With Baton During Road Rage Attack: PD
Police say the incident occurred early Sunday morning as the two were driving on Ocean Parkway.
A man from Massapequa was arrested on Sunday after police say a road rage incident near Jones Beach led to him attacking another driver with a retractable baton.
According to police, around 8:15 a.m., Jason A. Erny, 49, of Massapequa, was driving a 2016 Dodge Charger on westbound Ocean Parkway, east of the Jones Beach water tower. Police say Erny attempted to enter the parkway from the left entrance ramp and drove into the path of a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu.
Police say the two cars continued to drive closely, and the situation escalated when Erny stopped in the right traffic lane and both drivers got out of their cars. Police say Erny was armed with a retractable baton and struck the other driver, injuring them. Erny then got back into his car and fled, police said.
