WANTAGH, NY — The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter has dozens of cats and dogs available for adoption.

We'll highlight one prospective pet each week that is looking for a forever home.

Navajo is a six-month-old domestic shorthair/mix cat. She has black and white colors in her fur. Navajo came to the animal shelter after surviving a hoarding house ordeal where up to 90 cats roamed, the shelter posted. You can click here to see her photo and details.

Her owner was hospitalized and many rescues dealt with the cat situation.

Navajo, like the others taken from that location, is "very shut down and undersocialized and will require a very understanding and patient home," the animal shelter's description for Navajo said.
