WANTAGH, NY — An Amityville woman has been arrested after police say she drove drunk in Wantagh with her 4-month-old kid in the car and left a crash site.

Police officers received a report around 7:30 p.m. Thursday that a child was inside a car with a drunken driver. They found the 2002 black Honda Accord near a Ride Aid on Merrick Road in Massapequa Park.

The driver, identified by police as Margareth Mendoza, 36, of Offaly Street, was heading west on Sunrise Highway when police saw her fail to signal at the intersection of Beech Street in Wantagh. When officers activated their emergency lights and pulled her over, they noticed her eyes were glassy and bloodshot. The driver was also slurring her words and her breath smelled like alcohol, police said.
