Nassau Man Threw Fireworks Into Pool Where Kids Were Swimming: PD

Police say the man who threw the fireworks into a pool with four children in it also had three illegal guns in his home.

A Wantagh man was arrested Friday night after police say he threw fireworks into a pool where children were playing.

According to police, officers responded to a call on Judith Court at 8:15 p.m. Friday. A man said that fireworks had been thrown into his backyard pool where his daughter and three of her friends were swimming. No one was injured.

Police viewed security footage from the home and say that Donald Hollman, 37, of Seamans Neck Road, was seen throwing the fireworks into the pool and running back to his home. The father identified Hollman to police.

A short time later, police arrived at Hollman's house and placed him under arrest without incident. Police say that they found fireworks at his home, along with marijuana and three rifles and shotguns.

Hollman is charged with four counts of second-degree reckless endangerment, four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal mischief, fifth-degree arson. two charges of LAB 458 explosives licenses and certificates, LAB 453 storage of explosives, unlawfully selling fireworks and fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. He was arraigned on Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
