LONG ISLAND, NY — An increase in bicycle thefts across Nassau County has led to an alert from police.
They posted to Facebook urging biking residents to use caution.

- Lock your bike to an immovable object.
- Store bikes in a garage whenever possible.
- Lock in a well-lit area and when unattended.
Police also suggest placing the two-wheeler in a U-lock across the frame and one wheel for the most secure fit.
Stolen bicycles should be reported immediately to the local police precinct or 911.
