WANTAGH, NY — A man was seriously hurt walking across a Wantagh street on Tuesday evening. The 51-year-old victim was crossing Jerusalem Avenue when he was struck by a Mercedes Benz SUV, authorities said. The victim was rushed to a hospital with head trauma and is listed in critical condition, police said. The 62-year-old driver remained at the scene and the vehicle was impounded for safety checks. Police are investigating.
