Photos: Firefighters Pull Pup From Burning Wantagh Home, NCFM Says No Injuries Reported

WANTAGH, NY — A fire on Ercell Drive was knocked down with the combined efforts of about 50 firefighters Friday, with first responders finding one resident home during the blaze: A dog, who sources at the scene of the fire say was rescued from the home.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said the fire was called in at 10:23 a.m. with the Wantagh Fire Department first on the scene. Responding to provide mutual aid, officials said, were the Levittown, Massapequa, North Massapequa and Seaford departments, with the combined firefighting force taking about 20 minutes to put out the fire.

Thankfully, officials said no injuries were reported to civilians or first responders. According to the fire marshal’s office, the cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.

As for the dog, photos from the scene show the canine companion in the care of first responders.
