Police: Man With Gun Robs Wantagh Gas Station

Robbery occurred Friday evening.

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Wantagh Friday evening.

According to police, a man armed with a handgun entered the BP sas station located at 1442 Wantagh Avenue, approached the clerk and demanded money at 6:18 p.m. The employee complied and the robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash into a wooded area. He was last seen heading north on a dirt path located behind the gas station, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The robber is described as white, 19 to 25 years old, 5-foot-8, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans, blue bandana covering his face, silver sunglasses, a dark baseball cap and black gloves.

Police ask anyone with information regarding the robbery to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
