Police Officer, Attempting To Arrest Man, Injured In Scuffle: PD
Nicholas Logreira faces charges that include assault and criminal contempt, Nassau police say.

SEAFORD, NY — A man was taken into custody on Thursday evening after assaulting a police offcer, detectives said.
Nicholas Logreira, 28, went into an Arthur Avenue residence in Seaford and attempted to forcibly gain entry, police said.
A 26-year-old female victim was in fear for her life, according to police.

Logreira failed to get into the home and fled prior to police arriving.
Officers conducted a search of the area a short time later and found Logreira on Arthur Avenue, where they attempted to place him under arrest, police said.

Logreira resisted, injuring one officer's right wrist in the process, detectives said.
The officer and Logreira were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Logreira is charged with second-degree assault, first-degree criminal contempt, third-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
He was arraigned in District Court on Friday.
