Seaford Deck Fire Closes Street, Ends With No Injuries: NCFM

SEAFORD, NY — Jackson Avenue was briefly closed in Seaford Monday as firefighters worked a deck fire that was spreading to the interior of the home where it broke out, fire officials said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said 45 firefighters from Bellmore, Massapequa, Seaford and Wantagh departments were sent to the home at 10:26 a.m. Monday and found a fire on its deck that was spreading to the interior. Sources at the scene said the street was closed while firefighters worked on the deck.

The fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes with no injuries reported, fire officials said, and no one needed to be relocated.

In the aftermath of the blaze, the Town of Hempstead is investigating the home to see what damage occurred while the county fire marshal’s office and arson/bomb squad are investigating the cause of the fire, officials said.
