Seaford High School’s fitness and weight room recently got a top-to-bottom makeover, creating an inviting facility for students. Over the summer, the room was repainted and a new floor was put down. The white walls with green stripes and green doors reflect Seaford pride.

Use of the room, located across from the gymnasium, is currently restricted due to health and safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic, but when it reopens, students will get to enjoy state-of-the-art equipment. Kevin Witt, director of physical education, health and athletics said some older machines were replaced in mid-October. The fitness and weight room has three new treadmills, three new elliptical machines and a new recumbent bike. A new power rack was replaced and a cable crossover machine was added, which Mr. Witt said is popular in commercial gyms and allows students to do multiple exercises.

The fitness and weight room includes a mix of both cardio and strength and conditioning equipment. It is used by physical education classes and athletic teams under adult supervision. Mr. Witt noted that exercise is good for both the body and mind.
