Seaford HS Wrestler Sets New Program Record

James O'Hagan places third at state wrestling championships and will be competing in a national tournament next month.

Seaford High School junior James O’Hagan set a new record for the district when he finished third in the 2013 New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSSPHSAA) Wrestling Championship in the 285 pound weight class. The wrestling team captain is now set to compete in the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Wrestling Championship in Virginia next month. 

Seaford wresatling head coach Sal LoStrappo and assistant coaches Dave Takseraas and Rob Takseraas, describe O’Hagan as a “motivator who always has a positive attitude.”

“James really takes advantage of what the athletic department has to offer,” added Athletic Director Tom Condon. “He works hard, responds to the challenges his coaches give him and uses it to maximize his potential.”

The varsity wrestling team captured the conference championship this season, a title they’ve earned almost every year for the past 10 years.
