Man Drove Drunk at 90 MPH With Fireworks in Car: Police
Police discovered a car full of fireworks when they pulled over a Honda on the Wantagh State Parkway Sunday afternoon, police say.
WANTAGH, NY - A Seaford man was arrested for driving drunk with fireworks in his car in Wantagh on Sunday afternoon, according to State Police.
At about 1 p.m., a trooper from the Farmingdale Barracks stopped a gray Honda for driving 90 mph in a 55 mph zone on the southbound side of the Wantagh State Parkway near Sunrise Highway, police said.
While interviewing the driver, 27-year-old Nicholas Maggio, the trooper smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and noticed that the car was filled with fireworks, police said.

Maggio failed sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DWI, according to police.
He was charged with felony DWI for having a DWI conviction in the last 10 years, possession of fireworks and traffic violations, police said.

He was held for arraignment in Nassau County First District Court.
