Seaford Man to be Raffled Off

Women will bid for a chance to have mentoring session with Farmingdale State Vice President for Institutional Advancement Patrick Calabria during upcoming Fair Media Council event.

Seaford resident Patrick Calabria, who is Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Farmingdale State, will be raffled off at the Fair Media Council (FMC) Women’s Empowerment Summit on June 22. The raffle will give women the chance to win a one-on-one mentoring session with Calabria and other top executives from Long Island.

"The complaints I hear from women are that they don't have access to the power base, which is men," said FMC Executive Director Jaci Clement of why they are holding the unique networking event. "This is an opportunity for women to sit down face-to-face [with male leaders] and have an informal talk."

In late 2010, Calabria as one of "Long Island's Top 50 or So Around 50" by Long Island Business News. Prior to joining Farmingdale State College in 2007, Calabria served as a Chief University Media Relations Officer at Stony Brook University and previously served in similar positions for SUNY Old Westbury and the New York Islanders. From 1972 to 1992, Calabria was an award-winning journalist at Newsday.

In addition to Calabria, some of the other men to be raffled off at the FMC event include: North Shore-LIJ Health System President & CEO Michael Dowling, Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano, Bethpage Federal Credit Union CEO Kirk Kordeleski and Long Island Business News Publisher John L. Kominicki.

The FMC is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that educates businesses, nonprofits and the public to become media savvy. FMC also advocates for quality local news coverage and has about 200 New York City metropolitan region businesses and nonprofits as members.
