Seaford Student Receives Scholarship from Area Credit Union

Tara Price is one of 20 students presented with a $1,000 scholarship Monday from Island Federal Credit Union.

Seaford resident Tara Price was one of 20 students presented with a $1,000 scholarship Monday during a special ceremony at the Hauppauge headquarters of Island Federal Credit Union (FCU).

Price, who graduated from on Sunday, will be able to use the scholarship money to continue her education in college. Island FCU's scholarship program is open to any Long Island high school senior who is or becomes a member, and has been accepted into a program of full-time undergraduate study as a freshman. Membership in Island FCU is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Nassau or Suffolk counties, with the exception of the townships of East Hampton, Southampton and Shelter Island.

“We at Island Federal Credit Union take great pleasure in helping our young members continue their education and pursue their personal goals in life,” said Bret W. Sears, president/CEO of Island Federal Credit Union. “Island realizes how important it is for our young people to get a good start on their futures, especially in these trying times, and this program helps make that possible.”

Since the inception of the Scholarship Program in 1992, Island FCU has given out more than a quarter-million dollars in awards to local high school seniors.
