Seaford Third Graders Get Lesson in Dictionary Usage
Students at Seaford Manor School presented with dictionaries from the local chapter of Verizon Pioneers.

Seaford Manor School third graders were presented with dictionaries from the local chapter of Verizon Pioneers, a volunteer association whose signature education project is to promote literacy by teaching dictionary usage to young students.
The 524-page dictionaries, personalized with both the Pioneer and Verizon logos and the tag line, “Partnering To Build Stronger Communities,” contain a host of information in addition to definitions such as the biographies of U.S. presidents, weights and measures, the American Flag, the Constitution and
Amendments and the Declaration of Independence. The students perused through the many sections of their new dictionaries as the Verizon Pioneers explained the book’s various uses.
