Second Republican Joins Race For Rice's Congressional Seat
Town of Hempstead Councilman Anthony D'Esposito announces candidacy for Congress.
ISLAND PARK, NY — Add another name to the growing list of candidates vying for Kathleen Rice's congressional seat.
Town of Hempstead Councilman Anthony D'Esposito was expected to announce his campaign for the 4th Congressional District at a Friday news conference.
D'Esposito, an Island Park native, is a former NYPD detective.

While several Democrats are in the running, D'Esposito, at this point, only has one Republican challenger-- businessman Bill Staniford, who lives in Lawrence.
Rice announced she is retiring from politics and would not seek another term.
