Three Wantagh Student-Musicians Make National and State Ensembles
The students will perform in prestigious concerts this fall.
Three Wantagh High School student-musicians were selected to perform in state- and national-level ensembles this fall.
The New York State School Music Association selected Kevin Ganzekaufer and Lindsay Whiteman to participate in the All-State Mixed Chorus and Vocal Jazz Ensemble, respectively, during the NYSSMA Winter Conference to be held at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, New York, from Dec. 1-4. Thousands of students auditioned for this honor during solo and ensemble festivals throughout the state.
In addition, Dan Hirsch was selected to participate in the Jazz Ensemble during the National Association for Music Education’s All-National Honor Ensembles held in Grapevine, Texas, held from Nov. 10-13. Hirsch plays the trumpet in the high school’s marching band, concert band and wind ensemble. He was also selected as a NYSSMA All-State musician during the 2015-16 school year.
