TOH COVID-19 Vaccine Unit Reaches Milestone

The "Vaxmobile" has been delivering shots to Town of Hempstead residents since March.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — The Town of Hempstead Vaxmobile, operated by Mount Sinai South Nassau, is scheduled to give its 5,000th vaccine.

The mobile unit, which has been showing up each week at various locations, was expected to deliver the milestone shot on Friday at the Town of Hempstead Town Hall. Vaccines were available to residents until 4 p.m.

The "Vaxmobile" was created as part of a federal CARES act funding from a grant at the Town of Hempstead. It has made more than 35 stops in local communities, operating five days a week.
