SEAFORD, NY — Reconstruction of Seamans Neck Park is progressing as the new year approaches.

The Town of Hempstead broke ground on the projects in November that are scheduled for completion by April 1.

Among the overhaul, Field 2 is getting an upgrade from dirt to artificial turf and Field 3, a multipurpose turf field, is being replaced due to damage from overuse.

"Working with Hempstead Town Supervisor Don Clavin and the Town Board, we have invested 10 million capital investments in our Town parks," Councilman Chris Carini (R-Seaford) said. "This was made possible due to a recent bond upgrade and strong financial outlook for the Town of Hempstead."

Carini said the funds will help with improvements at other facilities, including Newbridge Park, Baldwin Park, Coe's Neck Park, Merrick Road Park and town golf courses.
