Wantagh 'Back The Blue' Event Benefits Fallen Officers' Families
Several Wantagh Chamber of Commerce members are getting together to "Back the Blue" at Ridgewood Station Tavern on Friday, Jan. 3.
WANTAGH, NY - Since the first recorded police death in 1786, there have been over 21,000 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
Nassau County officers aren't immune to the statistics. The Officer Down Memorial Page reports that since 1925, 35 officers have lost their lives in the line of duty with the Nassau County Police Department. The Nassau County Sheriff's Office has lost four officers in the line of duty since 1986.
To show their support for officers who've made the ultimate sacrifice, several Wantagh Chamber of Commerce members are getting together to "Back the Blue" at Ridgewood Station Tavern on Friday, Jan. 3.
