Wantagh Curriculum Chief Earns Global Honor
Article written by Dr. Maureen P. Appiarius selected for publication and presentation at the 12th Annual International Business and Economy Conference in France.

Dr. Maureen P. Appiarius, the Wantagh School District's assistant superintendent for instruction, recently co-authored an article, “The Influence of Foreign Language Instruction at the Elementary Level on Student Achievement in English Language Arts and Mathematics”.
The article has been selected for publication and presentation at the 12th Annual International Business and Economy Conference (IBEC) in Caen, France. IBEC provides a forum for researchers and practitioners to examine strategic challenges faced by educators, governments and other institutions in the global arena.
Dr. Appiarius’ research was cited as being of great interest to the IBEC organizers. According to the reviewer, “The comparison of students who learn a foreign language and those who do not, especially in mathematics achievement, is of great importance”. Dr. Appiarius will be traveling to France in January to present her paper at this prestigious conference.
