Wantagh Elementary Students Give Back to the Community

They've held many drives to collect goods for those in need.

Wantagh elementary student council members are working hard to make a difference in the lives of community members this holiday season with a number of food, card and supply drives.

At Wantagh Elementary School, the student council held a cleaning supply drive for residents moving into homes built by Habitat for Humanity. The students collected more than 300 individual items including paper towels, dusters, sponges and household cleaners. In addition, Mandalay Elementary School’s student council is currently holding a Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit Island Harvest for distribution to families in need.

In honor of Veterans Day, Mandalay Elementary School student council members also hosted a collection drive for a local chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America, a non-profit organization to support troops abroad, with items requested by troops fighting abroad. The students packaged all of the items with handmade cards.
