Wantagh Falls Short In High School Football Playoffs
Bethpage advances to the conference title game next weekend at Hofstra.
HEMPSTEAD, NY — Bethpage outlasted Wantagh in their Conference III semifinal high school football game on Thursday, 34-27.
Wantagh, which ended the season at 8-2, held a one-point lead with 11:31 remaining in the game, Newsday reported.
Wantagh, the second seed in the conference, was without the county top rusher Tyler Martini due to a concussion. Mark Maniet picked up the slack with 223 yards on 28 carries and three touchdowns, Newsday said.

Bethpage advances to the title game on Nov. 19 at Hofstra against unbeaten Plainedge, who pounded Floral Park, 47-0.
