Wantagh FD Douses Saturday House Fire On Cornelius Ave
The fire broke out just before 9 p.m. Saturday, department officials say.
WANTAGH, NY. — The Wantagh Fire Department dispatched several fire trucks to a Cornelius Avenue home Saturday night, dousing a fire that officials say had engulfed the entire side of the Wantagh home.
Wantagh Fire Department officials said they got the call to the house fire just before 9 p.m. Saturday, with three fire engines and two ladders responding to the scene first. Within minutes of responding, department officials said two fire hose lines were up and running, with ladder operators performing search and ventilation work at the home. PSEG personnel was also requested, department officials said, to assist with grounded, arcing electrical lines.
Department officials said the visible flames were knocked down within 10 minutes of arrival, with Bellmore Fire Department personnel on-site and standby assistance from Seaford, North Bellmore and Bellmore departments.

The fire is under investigation by the county fire marshal and the NCPD arson bomb squad, and no injuries were reported, department officials said.
