Wantagh Firefighter Event: Learn To Prevent Kitchen, Dryer Fires

The Wantagh Fire Department will show residents how to prevent and respond to various types of blazes.

WANTAGH, NY — Wantagh residents are invited to learn fire prevention later this month and get tips from the experts on how to avoid various types of infernos.

The Wantagh Fire Department will host its 2019 Fire Prevention Open House on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., according to a flyer. The event will be held at the department's headquarters on Park Avenue.

Adults and kids will learn safety tips for kitchens and stoves, washers and dryers, vehicles, and more.

Live fire demonstrations are planned, along with a blood pressure screening. Various firefighter engines and equipment will be on display, and kids can shoot water out of a fire hose and simulate using a fire extinguisher.

Light refreshments will be served. One lucky participant will win a free iPad Mini.
