Wantagh High School Freshman Field Day: PHOTOS
The purpose of the day was to build a sense of connectedness and camaraderie among the freshmen class.

WANTAGH, NY — Wantagh High School freshmen ditched the classrooms for a day to participate in the second annual Freshman Field Day. Ninth graders on Thursday took to the field and tennis courts, cycling through eight team-building activities including Hang the Laundry, All Dressed Up, Find Your Footwear, Hula Your Hoop and more.
Andrew Ahr of Body and Brain hosted a mindfulness activity at the field day and upperclassmen volunteers ran the activities and ushered on participants.
"The purpose of the day was to build a sense of connectedness and camaraderie among the freshmen class as they begin their high school journey," Iris Kline, a high school social worker, said in a news release sent by the district.
