Wantagh High School Literary Magazine Earns 19 State Awards
It was named one of the best high school literary magazines in the state.

Wantagh High School’s literary magazine, Escapades, received 19 awards in artwork/illustration, fiction, nonfiction, poetry, cover design and photography from the Empire State School Press Association and Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Advisor Violet Turner was also selected as Advisor of the Year.
Every year, awards are handed out to the top school literary magazines in the state at the association’s annual conference, held at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
In addition to an overall Gold/All-New York award for the magazine, under the direction of editors Lauren Muldowney, Laura Panagis and Kerri Shea, the following students were recognized for their award-winning works.

- Artwork/Illustration: Brooke Motis – honorable mention, “Carnival” and Rachel Obergh – gold, cover
- Fiction: Lindsay Whiteman – silver, “Youth”
