Wantagh HS Musical Production Wins Set Design Award

School's production of "Pippin" wins second place for set design by ScenoGraphic.

Wantagh High School’s recent production of the musical Pippin was brimming with talent both on and off the stage.

The set design for this colorful tale earned a second place award and trophy in a national contest sponsored by ScenoGraphic.

Wantagh High School teacher Heather Romano, director of the production, had a vision for the play and then let loose a talented team of teachers, parents and students to bring it to life. Teacher and club advisor Heather Jones guided the student stage crew through painting, props, lighting and set changes. Parents Bob Constant and Barry Censi spearheaded the construction and fabrication of the structure and graphics were designed by parent Debbie Pinciotto.

“I am extraordinarily proud of this award because it represents the very best of what a school community can do,” Romano said. “It was won only through the collaboration of a great new teacher as the club advisor, outrageously talented and generous parents, and our very dedicated, hard-working crew students!  The results speak for themselves when you have so many amazing people working together.”

Wantagh High School is planning a production of Gilbert and Sullivan's comic operetta, The Pirates of Penzance in February.
