Wantagh KFC Awards Long Island Children's Charity $10,000

WANTAGH, NY — They may be known for doing "chicken right," but KFC is also showing it knows how to do charity.

Family and Children's Association of Garden City received $10,000 from the KFC Foundation.

The not-for-profit organization was nominated by KFC employees at the Wantagh Avenue franchise for its impact on Long Island's youth.

The check was presented to the organization's Walkabout for Young Men and Women program, which is a transitional house that serves homeless adolescents and young adults.

The grant will be used to build an outdoor healing garden, which will be designed to improve the mental and physical well-being of the residents.
