Wantagh Kicks Off the New School Year
Students and staff all get into gear for the 2016-17 year.
A rainy morning did not dampen the spirits of Wantagh School District students who toted their backpacks full of school supplies and disembarked from bright yellow school buses and carpools ready and excited to start the 2016-17 school year on Thursday.
Members of the Wantagh Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools Maureen Goldberg, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction John McNamara and assistant Superintendent for Business Adriana Silver joined the principals of each school to welcome students as they filed through the front doors and into their classrooms.
Goldberg said she was impressed with the district’s smooth opening. “Both the students and the teachers were enthusiastic and instruction began immediately,” she said. “I am confident that this will be a productive and positive school year for all Wantagh students.”
