Wantagh Library To Offer Free Tax Help
The tax-preparation service is aimed at low to moderate income taxpayers with simple tax returns that can be prepared in less than one hour.

WANTAGH, NY—Need help with filing your taxes? The Wantagh library may be able to help. It will make available IRS-Certified AARP Tax-Aide Foundation tax preparers who will be on hand every Tuesday at the library from Feb. 11 through April 14, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The tax-preparation service is aimed at low-to moderate income taxpayers with simple tax returns that can be prepared in less than one hour, library representatives said.
Taxpayers with complicated tax returns (more than 12 documents) or out-of-scope subjects will be advised to seek professional tax preparation assistance, as will those with incomes exceeding $100,000.

For taxpayers interested in taking part in the upcoming service, they are asked to bring:
- Social security cards for everyone listed on the tax return, this includes any dependents
- A valid photo ID
- Last year’s tax return and all tax-related documents
Taxpayers are also asked to remove the documents from their envelopes prior to your appointment. Joint tax returns require both spouses to be present to sign necessary documents.
