With an upbeat spirit and a drive to make students feel welcome, Wantagh Middle School principal Anthony Ciuffo and assistant principal Dr. Stephanie Scolieri welcomed incoming sixth graders during an annual orientation program, held on Sept. 3, which looked different from those in past years. Divided into small groups throughout the day and socially distanced, excitement was still palpable as the students began their secondary-level education.

“No matter how different things may look, we’ll have a great school year,” Mr. Ciuffo assured the students during his introductions. “I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you.”

Students were assigned a guidance counselor who took their small groups on a tour of the school and answered questions. While the students were becoming familiar with their surroundings, parents congregated on the front lawn for an informative session with Mr. Ciuffo and Dr. Scolieri. Chromebooks were also distributed. The new school year begins on Sept. 8.
