Wantagh Names 2015 Valedictorian, Salutatorian

The Wantagh School District congratulates Julia Laibach and Julia Lantier as the Class of 2015 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.

The announcement was made over the Wantagh High School loud speaker on Oct. 2., and a congratulatory announcement was posted on the marquee.

Principal Carolyn Breivogel held a congratulatory meeting with the students and their parents, which included Superintendent of Schools Maureen Goldberg, Director of Guidance Frank Muzio and Assistant Principal James Brown.

“Both of you are truly deserving of this honor, both in terms of your academic records and in your leadership abilities,” Breivogel said. “This is a very important honor that you will carry with you for the rest of your lives.”

Laibach is a National Merit Semifinalist, a NYSSMA All-State musician, an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction and a member of the National Honor Society. She is founder and president of the school’s mentor program and a recipient of the Harvard University Book Award. Also an exceptional athlete, Laibach is a member of the high school swim and track teams.

Also a National Merit Semifinalist, Lantier is an Advanced Placement Scholar and the recipient of the University of Rochester’s Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award. She is on the executive board of the National Honor Society and president of the Foreign Language Honor Society.
