Wantagh OD Investigation Reveals Hundreds Of Grams Of Cocaine, Ketamine And Other Drugs, Duo Arrested: PD

WANTAGH, NY — A Bellerose Terrace man and a New Hyde Park woman are facing narcotics charges this morning after police found the man in possession of a laundry list of drugs including 10 pounds of marijuana, 1.5 pounds of mushrooms and cocaine, authorities said.

Nassau County police said 23-year-old Jack Acquafredda and 22-year-old Persephone Abert were arrested Thursday afternoon after an investigation into a non-fatal overdose in Wantagh.

Upon investigating Acquafredda’s home, police said they found about 41 grams of cocaine, about 28.9 grams of MDMA, about 1.5 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, about 5.3 grams of ketamine, about 54.5 grams of amphetamines, 56 tabs of LSD, one clonazepam pill, over 10 pounds of marijuana, several hundred THC gummies and vapes, more than $30,000 cash, a switchblade, drug scales, a money counter and drug packing materials.

During that investigation, police said they also arrested Abert. Police did not say whose overdose they were investigating originally, just that the person was a Nassau County resident.

Arraignments for Acquafredda and Abert are scheduled for Friday morning, police said. Both Acquafredda and Abert are charged with three third-degree counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, one fourth-degree count of the same charge, a fourth-degree count of criminal sale of a controlled substance, four fifth-degree counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, a third-degree count of criminal possession of a weapon and a first-degree count of criminal possession of cannabis, police said.

In addition to those charges, Acquafredda is facing another third-degree count of criminal possession of a controlled substance, three more fifth-degree counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and a fifth-degree count of criminal sale of a controlled substance, police said.
