Wantagh Resident Named Finalist in 'Got Talent? Long Island' Contest

Trish Torrales selected by the Huntington Arts Council to perform in group's annual talent show competition this Friday night.

Wantagh resident Trish Torrales has been named a finalist in the Huntington Arts Council’s fourth annual Got Talent? Long Island competition taking place this Friday night.

Torrales, who graduated from Kellenberg High School in Uniondale last June, was selected by the Huntington Arts Council out of nearly 100 individuals and groups that auditioned this past January. The 18-year old has already gained recognition for her music talents including of the first annual MSG Varsity Talent Show last year and winning in the song writing category for Rockville Centre’s Respect Life Contest with her song “Measure Of Love.”

Torrales is also scheduled to perform at a charity event on April 28 for Rock Out Autism at  in Farmingdale. She is currently writing songs for her new EP, to be released soon.

Got Talent? Long Island will feature the area’s most talented aspiring artists taking the stage in front of a panel of celebrity judges on Friday night in the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center at Five Towns College. The show will begin promptly at 7:30 pm. and be co-hosted by Jen Chapin and Salvatore Valentinetti.

The winner will receive a $1,000 cash award, an opening performance at the 47th annual Huntington Summer Arts Festival. Additional prizes to the winner include a $2,000 scholarship to Five Towns College, headshots courtesy of Len Marks Photography, an interview on Donna Drake's show, Live It Up!, a walk-on role courtesy of Donna McKenna Casting and gift packages from E1 Entertainment and D’Addario Music.

Ticket prices range from $30-$45 and can be purchased at www.huntingtonarts.org. Groups of 20 or more receive a 20 percent discount.
