Wantagh School Board to Explore Adding Full-Day Kindergarten
Strategic planning committee being formed to explore implementation of full-day kindergarten program and declining enrollment in district.

The Wantagh Board of Education is forming a strategic planning committee that will help determine whether implementing full-day kindergarten in the district is a realistic goal.
Wantagh Board of Education President Michael Cucci said during the trustees’ July 3 meeting that the committee will explore the implementation of full-day kindergarten as well as declining enrollment in the district. Cucci said the board will select committee members from the community with a first meeting taking place in August. The plan is to have the new committee report back to the school board in December, Cucci said.
Wantagh along with East Meadow are the only two school districts in Nassau County that do not offer full-day kindergarten. Neighboring Seaford and Levittown have both implemented full-day kindergarten programs in recent years.
