The central theme of Wantagh School District’s annual Superintendent’s Conference Day, which was attended by approximately 600 teachers and staff, local officials and community organization representatives, was about setting an already high bar even higher in the education of district students.
“Those who achieve the highest levels of success are those who reflect upon strengths and strive to improve at each and every turn,” Superintendent of Schools Maureen Goldberg said. “Imagine what your lessons would be like if you set the bar even higher than it has been and strive each day to meet the higher bar you have set for yourself.”

During the welcome back assembly, Goldberg encouraged administrators, teachers and staff to ask ‘how’ a student is motivated, to remain mindful of the impact on learning by a student’s emotional and social needs and to reflect on how to address and meet the needs of each student.
In addition, Board of Education President Anthony Greco reminded the teachers that they would continue to receive unwavering support from the Board.

“As you enter the classroom on the first day of school, remember that you are not alone,” he said.
In addition to welcoming remarks, the staff was required to attend elementary and secondary department meetings, building faculty meetings and even had time to set up their classrooms for the first day of school on Sept. 2.
