Wantagh, Seaford Residents Approve Budgets; Wantagh BOE Trustees Ousted

Residents in Wantagh and Seaford took to the polls on Tuesday to vote for the school budget and Board of Education trustees.

Residents in Wantagh and Seaford took to the polls on Tuesday to vote for their school budgets, special propositions and representatives for their boards of education.

In the the Wantagh School District, voters overwhelmingly approved the $76.9 million budget 1,888 to 441.

Seaford residents also came out to support their budget. They voted for the $66.5 million budget 1,248 to 347.

Voters in Seaford also had to vote on two ballot propositions. Proposition 2 would provide transportation to school for more middle and high school students. It passed 1,114 to 467. Proposition 3, which would authorize the Board of Education to sell a small parcel of land near the Harbor School field, also passed, 1,199 to 299.

Voters in both districts also cast ballots for Board of Education members. In surprise in Wantagh, incumbents Michael Cucci and Ann-Marie Sturniolo were both defeated by challengers Liz Guber and Adam Fisher. Guber and Fisher earned 1,341 and 1,249 votes, respectively, compared to Cucci's 988 and Sturniolo's 892.

In Seaford, Stacie Stark and Natalie Pedisich were running unopposed, and the district didn't release how many votes each had received.
