WANTAGH, NY — A group of Wantagh Elementary School students extended their philanthropy efforts past the holiday season by hosting a pajama and book drive during the month of January, according to a Wantagh School District news release.

Members of the student council, under the direction of adviser Lauren Mulry, collected dozens of pajamas and books for the Pajama Program, a nonprofit organization that promotes and supports comforting bedtime routines and healthy sleep for children facing adversity.

The pajamas and books will be wrapped up and donated to shelters on Long Island or in New York City, the news release stated.
