Wantagh Students Give Back To Hurricane Victims

They started off their year by collecting goods for those who lost everything in the hurricanes.

As Wantagh School District staff and students began the 2017-18 school year, their hearts and hands turned to a relief effort, sponsored by Nassau County Legislator Steve Rhoads, for the victims of Hurricane Harvey, which pummeled southeast Texas in August.

With assistance from the school’s PTA, student council and Principal Marie Pissichio, the students and staff collected blankets, diapers, baby formula, first aid supplies, toiletries, shovels, work gloves and other much-needed supplies. The donations were then transferred to a collection site held at King Kullen grocery store in Wantagh.
