Wantagh Students Head Back To School

Kids all over the district returned to classes on Tuesday and kicked off the 2018-19 school year.

The excessive heat did not wilt the spirits of Wantagh students who toted their backpacks full of school supplies to start the 2018-19 school year on Sept. 4.

Members of the board of education, Superintendent of Schools John C. McNamara, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Dr. Marc Ferris and Assistant Superintendent for Business Adriana Silver joined the principals to welcome students as they disembarked from the bright yellow buses or arrived by carpools, ready to find their classrooms and get down to work.

McNamara said he was pleased with the district’s smooth opening. “The teachers and students were enthusiastic and instruction began immediately,” he said. “I am confident that this will be a productive and positive school year for all Wantagh students.”
