Wantagh Woman Dies After Being Struck By Pickup: Police
The woman was pronounced dead by hospital staff, police say.
WANTAGH, NY. — A 53-year-old pedestrian died Monday after a GMC pickup truck hit her while it was turning southbound onto Briard Street in Wantagh, police said.
Nassau County police said 53-year-old Wantagh resident Elena Crowley was transported to a hospital after the crash, where she was pronounced dead. The accident took place at 5:22 p.m. Monday, when the GMC was attempting to turn off of the westbound side of Lufberry Avenue onto Briard Street, police said.
Police did not report any arrests or charges stemming from the incident, but said that the 57-year-old man driving the truck stayed at the scene. An investigation into the crash, police said, is still ongoing.
