Cafe Clover Team Brings New 'American Bar' To The West Village
The owners of Cafe Clover and Clover Grocery are behind a new restaurant on Greenwich Avenue, which officially opened Wednesday.

WEST VILLAGE, MANHATTAN — The team behind local favorite Cafe Clover and luxury store Clover Grocery have opened another eatery on Greenwich Avenue.
The new spot, aptly named American Bar, officially opened its doors in a 33 Greenwich Ave. storefront on Wednesday by Kyle Hotchkiss Carone, David Rabin, and Jeff Kadish, the Clover team.
Like Cafe Clover, the eatery's kitchen will be led by Chef Carolina Santos-Neves, the restaurant said. Its menu includes "modern American and Continental classics" like steaks, burgers, club sandwiches and a selection of salads and classic appetizers.

Its 70-seat dining area and bar will take over a wide storefront between West 10th and Charles streets.

Owners say that, despite the American style, the restaurant is poised to offer an internationally-inspired atmosphere.
"The interior pulls inspiration from global icons such as Paris Bar in Berlin, London members clubs including Marks and George, and American institutions Chasen’s, Mortimer’s, Swifty’s, and more," the restaurant said in a release.

Along with its dining area, American Bar will also have an 18-seat terrazzo bar, a separate lounge area and a private dining room. There will even be a small retail space that highlights craft food makers.
The new restaurant sits just a few blocks from the team's other outposts.
Cafe Clover, which also offers American fare from Santos-Neves, sits on Downing Street and Clover Grocery, which calls itself a "gourmet health food store," can be found just down the street on Sixth Avenue.
