An off-duty NYPD detective got his car stolen after he left it running on the street to pick up food, according to the NY Post.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — A New York Police Department detective had his car stolen Wednesday afternoon in Greenwich Village after he left it running to pick up a bite to eat, according to the New York Post.

Police did not confirm to Patch that it was a detective whose car was stolen, but did confirm that a vehicle was taken in the vicinity of West 4th Street and Avenue of the Americas at the same time as the Post report.

The NYPD detective left his car running with a woman in the front passenger seat when a man in his twenties jumped into the driver's seat, according to the NY Post. The woman quickly exited the car, and the carjacker took off north on Sixth Avenue, sources told the NY Post.
